Farmstead Golf Links
Calabash, NC
Willard Byrd & Dave Johnson have designed a magnificent course that is sure to leave you with a memorable Grand Strand golfing experience. With its famous 18th hole, this course is not one to skip out on when planning your golf vacation.
The course features the area's only par 6 as its finishing hole. This 767-yard mammoth hole tees off in South Carolina but finishes on a large undulating green in North Carolina. With the only hole to cross the state line on the Grand Strand, many golfing visitors are astonished by this too-good-to-be-true golfing dream. However, number 18 isn't the hardest hole and carries only the 8th handicap.
In fact, hole 16 is probably the most challenging with a visually intimidating 453 yards that incorporates a sharp dogleg right with a fairway banked on the left that slopes down to a waste area on the right.
With wide open rolling fairways, the course offers five sets of tees and three par 3's on the backside. There are few tree-lined fairways and little to no obstructions which will advise you to be cautious of the wind. There is water on the course and several forced carries as Farmstead attempts to test you right off the tees. Overall, the course has a very natural feel.
With a 74.5 course rating and a slope rating of 135, this Bermuda grass course provides a beautiful view of the area's native grasses and sparkling lakes. This par 72 is friendly to golfers of all skill levels and is enhanced by a beautiful clubhouse that features a full-service pro shop, grille, and lounge. After you cross states on the 18th hole, sit down and have a refreshing post-round drink and watch as others attempt to tame the mammoth finishing hole.
Make sure you include Farmstead in your golfing vacation plans so that you don't miss out on the most memorable golfing experience in the Myrtle Beach area.
