Prestwick Golf & Country Club Surfside Beach, SC
The world famous architectural team of Pete and P.B. Dye has successfully done it again with a design of yet another fine golf course. Prestwick Golf & Country Club was recently named one of Golf Digest's "Five Best-Kept Secrets in America." There are very unique features which helped Prestwick achieve such legendary status.
Some of the "best-kept secrets"" features include dogwood-lined fairways, beautiful flora and fauna, and timber-rimmed bunkers. There is also a fair share of lakes and streams throughout the course. There are a total of six different sets of tees to make sure that every golfer is satisfied during a day out on Prestwick.
Hole one opens up the day with a par 4 that measures up to 383 yards. Your club selection is very important here and an ideal tee shot would be to the right side of the fairway. The second hole is probably the most difficult hole on the course, with a narrow green requiring you to once again choose your clubs carefully. A large bunker waits on the left to swallow your ball.
Hole ten is the most underestimated hole on the course. To the eye, it looks simple but in reality it is actually quite difficult. Your approach shot must be exact and any shot on the right edge will kick you off the green. Hole 16 is the best par 3 on the course and has trouble lurking around every corner. Make sure to favor the right side because despite the view, there is more room to the right you think. The finishing hole is a fantastic finisher. This par 4 features an extremely wide fairway but favor the left side as water habituates the entire right side of the green. The longer your tee shot here is the better!
