Myrtle Beach Golf Course Review
Sandpiper Bay
Sunset Beach, NC

Sandpiper Bay Welcome to the Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owner's Association 2010 Course of the Year Winner! This 27-hole complex packs a punch and is divided into three nine-hole courses. Choose your combination and play either the Bay, Sand, or Piper course. The course, which measures 6,489 yards, challenges even the most precise of golfers.

No matter which course you decide to play, Sandpiper Bay has many exciting and memorable holes. Number 8 on the Bay nine measures 397-yards and is a par 4. This hole requires you to carry over a wide stretch of shrubbery and wood for a distance of around 250-yards. The headaches not over with this carry, however, because after you carry over the shrubbery, you then have a 150-yard approach shot to make to a very small green which is guarded by water on the right side. Talk about a trap hole!

Number 3 on the Sand nine has just as much bite as the Bay number 8. This hole is a 354-yard par 4 that requires a tee shot carry over water to yet another small landing area. If you're successful with your tee shot, you'll find that you only have another 60 yards until you reach the green.

There may not be much undulation at Sandpiper, but there is PLENTY of water. In fact, nineteen of the 27 holes at Sandpiper have water features. At almost all of these holes, you'll find that the water comes into play. Overall, there are around nine forced water carries at Sandpiper.

It's easy to see why the MBAGCOA chose Sandpiper Bay to be the 2010 winner. The course is repeatedly one of the most-played courses on the Grand Strand. You will not find any "freebie" holes among the 27-holes. The par-3's are especially challenging, with none of them measuring under 150-yards. Do you feel up to the challenge?
