True Blue Golf Plantation
Pawleys Island, SC
True Blue Golf Plantation may be just what you're looking for to feed your challenge hunger. Designed by Mike Strantz, the course is definitely more difficult than its sister course Caledonia and may also be one of the most beautiful and difficult courses one could play on here at the Grand Strand.
The course itself is in great condition. True Blue appears to be more designed than Caledonia and is accompanied by beautiful landscaping and luscious flora and fauna. Hole 18 has a beautiful mirrored appearance and sits just in front of the clubhouse's patio. One of the most eye stimulating features of the course is the multilayered greens and the bending creative fairways.
One of the greatest things about True Blue is that the fairways are very wide and allow you to be more flexible right off the tee. The fairways may be the widest of any course in the area. However, all sand areas on this course are waste areas and are prevalent on almost every hole.
The first four holes and the last four holes are the most difficult, which will make your first and last impressions of the course to be of difficulty. There are five par-5 holes that are extremely creative and keep you on your toes. The fourth par-5 is one of the favorite holes maybe just for its appearance, with the way it drastically wraps around a pond. The last hole is a dangerous par-4 that may just play games with your mind, not just your clubs. This fairway is fair to all handicaps but may sneak up on you due to its mirrored appearance.
There truly is no easy hole at True Blue. One cautionary note- Don't attempt to go for home run shots on this course! She'll eat you up and swallow you whole!
